FitMesh Sync

Garmin + Health Connect

See all your Garmin data in Health Connect, automatically

FitMesh reads your Garmin steps, sleep, heart rate, and workouts from Health Connect and puts them in one dashboard. No export, no CSV, no manual sync.

Garmin Connect is one of the richest fitness ecosystems available, but the data has always been siloed inside Garmin's own app. Since Garmin added Health Connect support, that changed. Your steps, sleep stages, heart rate, workouts, and VO2 Max estimates now flow to Health Connect automatically, where any compatible app can read them.

What Garmin data flows to Health Connect

  • Steps and daily activity: 24/7 step count, active calories, floors climbed.
  • Sleep stages: light, deep, REM, and awake periods from your Garmin device.
  • Heart rate: continuous measurements, resting heart rate, and heart rate variability.
  • Workouts: running, cycling, swimming, and other activities with GPS route and pace.
  • VO2 Max estimate: from Garmin's Firstbeat algorithm, updated after qualifying runs.
  • Body battery and stress: these remain inside Garmin Connect only (not a Health Connect data type).

How to enable the Garmin Connect + Health Connect sync

  1. Open Garmin Connect on your Android phone.
  2. Go to the menu and find 'Health Connect'.
  3. Tap Connect and grant write permissions for steps, sleep, heart rate, and workouts.
  4. Open FitMesh and grant it read permissions for the same data types.
  5. Done. Your Garmin data appears in FitMesh within a few minutes.

Frequently asked questions

Does this work without a Garmin account?+

No. You need Garmin Connect installed and linked to a Garmin account for the Health Connect sync to work. FitMesh then reads the data from Health Connect, which does not require any additional account.

Does historical Garmin data sync to Health Connect?+

Yes. After you enable Health Connect in Garmin Connect, the app backfills several weeks of historical data. This can take a few hours to complete.

Does Body Battery sync to Health Connect?+

No. Body Battery, Stress Score, and Intensity Minutes are Garmin-proprietary metrics not included in the Health Connect data standard. They remain inside Garmin Connect.

What Garmin devices are compatible?+

Any Garmin device that syncs with Garmin Connect on Android works: Forerunner, Fenix, Epix, Venu, Vivosmart, Vivoactive, and others. The Garmin Connect app handles the Health Connect bridge regardless of which device you use.
